We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced network engineering services to support critical infrastructure. In this contractor role, the successful candidate will contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Gateway and CDS systems, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of government IT infrastructure.

Desirable Skills:

• Strong experience one or more Cisco based networking technologies - routing/switching and network security, voice and video technologies and ACI.
• Familiarity with Cross domain concepts, architectures and technologies.
• Knowledge of Australian Government IT policies, standards, and frameworks.

• Experience working with government agencies or in highly regulated environments

Key duties and responsibilities

• Support: Provide expert-level support for network troubleshooting, issue resolution, and root cause analysis. Address complex network performance issues promptly and effectively.
• Security: Ensure the integrity, security and privacy of network systems by implementing and maintaining appropriate protocols and controls in line with government policies and regulations.
• Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation for network architectures, configurations, and processes. Prepare regular reporting and provide advice to stakeholders.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with other IT teams, including systems administrators, cybersecurity specialists, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other infrastructure components.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in network engineering. Provide recommendations for improvements to network performance, reliability, and security.
• Compliance: Ensure all network solutions comply with Australian Government standards, regulations, and frameworks, including cybersecurity and risk management guidelines.
