Job details:

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

These roles are Gateway Engineers, which the DTA calls Infrastructure Engineers.

The Gateway Engineer will work closely with ICT teams in the provision of technical expertise in the development of a robust gateway infrastructure capability.

The Commonwealth, as represented by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), is delivering DEF2289, a major ICT capability development project that is in the acquisition phase of delivery. DEF2289 is scoped to deliver the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Information Environment (ISR IE) to enable the integration of multiple dependant Australian Defence Force (ADF) ISR related projects.

ASD is a vital member of Australia's national security community, working across the full spectrum of operations required of contemporary signals intelligence and security agencies, intelligence, cyber security and offensive operations in support of the Australian Government and the ADF. ASD's purpose is to defend Australia from global threats and help advance Australia's national interests.

DEF2289 is seeking to enhance and support existing skillsets within a specialist Technical Data Team (TDT) that will provide technical skills to deliver project solutions. The TDT will supplement the existing DEF2289 workforce that includes a mix of APS, ADF and contractor personnel.

The TDT is currently tasked with designing, building, testing and operating ICT systems, such as a gateway capability to connect ADF ISR related projects to Defence strategic networks and meet key milestones for the project. The gateway capability required solution is heavily focussed on the collection, inspection, transport and assurance of data between security classified environments.

Solution development will require extensive consultation across various technical teams in ASD and elements within Defence, including ADF ISR projects, to ensure all equities are represented in a complex ICT environment.
