Junior Infrastructure Engineer - TSPV Clearance Required | Canberra | Federal Government

Overview:
We're partnering with a key Federal Government department within the intelligence community to source a Junior Infrastructure Engineer for a Canberra-based position.

This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging IT professional to gain valuable experience in a secure, high-impact environment supporting critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, manage and retire infrastructure (physical, virtual, network and cloud)
• Perform operational tasks including installation, maintenance, patching and configuration
• Develop and maintain support documentation and procedures
• Investigate and support remediation of security incidents in accordance with established processes
• Monitor infrastructure performance and report on load, utilisation and events
• Provide end-user support and escalate issues where required
• Maintain accurate hardware/software records for configuration management
• Review and action change requests; contribute to the development of installation standards

Technical Skills Required:

• Experience installing and removing hardware/software using provided instructions
• Familiarity with standard diagnostic tools and basic scripting for routine tasks
• Use of network monitoring tools and performance metric reporting
• Sound understanding of infrastructure operations, incident management and system configuration
• Strong documentation and user support capabilities

Desirable Experience:

• Exposure to technologies from vendors such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Microsoft, Dell, Thales and NetApp
• Experience conducting backup/restoration tasks and maintaining system software
• Comfortable working in secure or classified environments with strict procedural adherence

Working Arrangements:

• Position is based in Canberra and requires full-time onsite attendance - remote work is not available
• Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain or maintain a TSPV clearance
• Australian citizens only - dual citizens or visa holders will not be considered

You'll be joining a federal government department which is one of the nation's key intelligence and cyber security agencies. The agency defends Australia from global threats and advances national interests through foreign signals intelligence, cyber security, and offensive cyber operations.

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain TSPV (Top Secret Positive Vetting)
Eligibility: Australian citizens only
