The Project:
Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is delivering a major ICT capability development project. The role will be a part of the Enabling Technical Team (ETT) which will be responsible for a range of activities contributing to the design, build, test and operation of ICT systems. In addition to this, the ETT will produce engineering, architecture and system design artefacts for the delivery of major systems to meet key milestones for the Project(s). Key documentation and artefacts will be produced following the ASD Technical Assurance Framework (TAF).

ETT personnel will be expected to:

  • Work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Create additional documentation directly related to their work such as project briefings, minutes and other supporting materials as required
  • Provide services that demonstrate practical knowledge of ICT Systems design, technical architecture and engineering services and draw upon implementation best practice(s)
  • Report on schedule status, dependencies, risks and issues to the Project Manager, Commonwealth personnel and Commonwealth Point of Contact (PoC)

Performance of the above tasks may involve:

  • Leading and facilitating workshops
  • Facilitating effective engagement with key stakeholders
  • Engaging ASD and Defence personnel and other stakeholders including solution/system owners, architects, users, and related projects
  • Ensuring quality and version control and coordination of multiple authored documents
  • Providing regular updates on progress to be in a format agreed at the contract comment with the Commonwealth PoC

Job Duties and Responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead the design, build, test and operation of networks services in a multi-vendor environment
  • Conduct requirement traceability and prioritisation activities, and determine the feasibility of individual requirements in order to support the design of elements of the system
  • Plan the configuration, implementation, automation and testing of an enterprise gateway environment, adhering to security policy and compliance
  • Provide assistance in the development, support and management of monitoring systems for networks
  • Implement, configure, and maintain (including leading change activities), of switches, routers and firewalls in a multi-vendor environment
  • Experience in the operation and management of a gateway environment
  • Experience automating networks through Infrastructure as Code
  • Provide support to the Technical Leadership;
  • Other tasking/activities as reasonably required/directed by Commonwealth PoC.

Highly desirable attributes

  • Experience working in, and the ability to operate effectively in complex ICT projects
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience and knowledge, and possess the initiative to work autonomously
  • Have previously completed and successfully obtained an OSA (which has since lapsed)

Other Requirements:

  • An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) is an ASD policy requirement for contractors who will be engaged for a period in excess of 12 months and are conducted to determine a person's suitability to work in ASD. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment prior to engagement.
  • The OSA requires a psychological assessment, which involves a questionnaire and an interview. Due to the nature of the work, you will need to hold a current or inactive TSPV Clearance. This is non-negotiable. Canberra based, with limited travel required within Australia.
