Multiple Senior Network Administrator

We're seeking multiple Senior Network Administrators (EL1 equivalent) to support the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). This role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure network environments while ensuring operational continuity. Successful candidates will be placed into a merit pool for future opportunities within ASD.

Estimated Start Date: 1 July 2025
Initial Contract Duration: Up to 15 months
Extension Options: 2 x 12 months

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor less experienced staff while ensuring timely and high-quality project completion.
• Manage change processes to maintain network reliability during installations or integrations.
• Engage with key stakeholders across Defence and external agencies to ensure seamless operations.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network infrastructure to support critical systems.
• Investigate and respond to security alerts and incidents using Splunk.
• Develop and maintain dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
• Maintain and upgrade device software and firmware while contributing to system design improvements.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of network systems, including configuration, security, and decommissioning.

Education and Certifications

🎓 Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Networking, or Cybersecurity are highly regarded.
✅ Industry certifications such as Cisco (CCNP/CCIE), AWS, or Linux are advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills Required

🛠 Strong expertise in routing and switching technologies (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, STP, VLAN, NTP).
🔐 Experience with network security, including firewalls, IPsec, enterprise proxy, and load balancing systems.
☁️ Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, or other cloud networking environments.
💻 Linux administration skills and experience integrating Linux-based systems into networks.
🔄 Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
