The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.
To facilitate the delivery and enhancements of cutting edge security data analytics capability, ASD requires an Audit System Developer and Data Analyst with skills from SFIA Codes SCAD 6, DENG 6, DTAN 5, SINT 5 and ITOP 4 at LOR 6.
Job Skills and Qualifications
Essential
Experience in the development of complex analytics and visualisations across large and varied datasets using applications such as Splunk, Tableau or other data analytics platform.
Experience in managing complex data pipelines, including data processing, scripting and coding languages such as Bash, XSLT, Python or PowerShell.
Proven experience in administering complex Linux based platforms
Ability to analyse complex systems engineering issues, using expertise to identify, recommend and apply a resolution.
Desirable
Knowledge of information security principles, practices and technologies.
Experience working in complex IT environments and projects, with an understanding of Defence.
Bachelor's degree in IT or relevant subject area with at least 8 years' experience in the IT field.

Key duties and responsibilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Audit System Developer and Data Analyst will perform the role of product owner for ongoing development, enhancement and sustainment of a GOTS information security data collection and analytics capability. Including integration of the capability with other key systems.
The Audit System Developer and Data Analyst will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Work with audit analysts to shape and implement scalable and useful data ingest.
- Establish and oversee analytical methods and techniques within the audit-processing environment.
- Lead security and automation input into system architecture development and future planning.
- Manage the implementation of new data processing techniques and features, including the documentation of those changes.
- Manage system reliability including, processing problems, system resource sustainability and monitor and remedy service interruptions.
- Analyse complex systems engineering issues, apply expertise to identify and recommend resolution.
- Manage new system and audit feed proposal and provide advice to stakeholders on security issues and implications.
- Develop processes and polices to ensure the collection and processing of audit data is fit for purpose, current and correctly implemented.
Technical skills

About the organisation
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government. Candidates require an AGSVA TSPV to perform the role. ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their security clearances. Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. An OSA is an ASD policy requirement for contractors who will be engaged for a period more than 12 months and are conducted to determine a person's suitability to work in ASD. The OSA requires a psychological assessment, which involves a questionnaire and an interview.
