ICT Project Officer

The Data and Service Delivery Governance team within DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division requires a labor-hire resource for the position of ICT Project Officer. This role supports the delivery, management, and governance of various ICT projects across the organization. Responsibilities are diverse and involve engaging with multiple divisions within DFAT to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key responsibilities for all projects, regardless of size or complexity, include:

• Developing project and program plans.

• Documenting business needs and requirements.

• Maintaining RAID logs throughout the project lifecycle.

• Utilizing departmental tools like SharePoint, EDRMS, and DevOps for project management and artifact storage.

• Creating high-level solution designs and detailed documentation.

• Planning and documenting transition into service.

• Providing monthly status reports.

• Submitting and verifying weekly timesheets.

• Managing Change and Release requests through IMD's toolset.

• Ensuring compliance with cyber security assurance and assessment plans.

• Managing Asset Under Construction (AUC) balances and reconciliations.

• Monitoring project/program milestones, schedules, and dependencies.

• Compiling formal project closure reports.

Key requirements for the role include:

• Supporting project delivery using Prince2 methodology.

• Assisting in creating and presenting status reports and committee packs for Project Board/Steering Committee meetings.

• Contributing to resource plans, project budgets, timelines, communications plans, and risk management plans.

• Supporting projects through complex technical, resource, financial, and governance challenges.

• Adapting quickly to changing demands and priorities.

• Upholding integrity, impartiality, accountability, and transparency.

Essential Criteria:

• Professional/industry certification in the relevant discipline.

• Prior experience in a similar role.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience with Federal Government projects.

• Experience with secure government systems.

• Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in supporting ICT software applications projects.

• Experience in a complex global ICT environment.

• Familiarity with project management systems and tools (e.g., DevOps, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Project).

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
