Gateway Architect
Location: Canberra
Clearance required: NV2 preferred, NV1 minimum.
Employment Type: Open to both Full-time / Contract
Cleared recruitment are seeking a Gateway Architect to join a leading advisory firm in providing secure and innovative solutions to clients across multiple sectors, including government, defense, and critical infrastructure.
Role Overview: The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network and security gateway technologies, with a strong focus on designing, implementing, and managing secure network architectures. This role will work closely with security teams, network engineers, and other architects to ensure the seamless integration of gateway solutions, enhancing security posture while supporting business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Architecture: Lead the design and development of secure gateway architectures that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
- Security: Implement robust security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption technologies, to safeguard gateway infrastructures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, network operations, and application development, to ensure secure data transmission and integration across various networks.
- Compliance: Ensure all gateway solutions comply with industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISM, PSPF, NIST) and meet organizational security policies.
- Monitoring & Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of gateway systems, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Incident Response: Provide expertise in incident detection and response, supporting threat analysis and implementing mitigations for gateway-related vulnerabilities.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed architecture documentation, including network designs, security controls, and operational processes for gateways.
- Innovation: Stay updated with the latest trends in gateway technologies, threat landscapes, and security practices, proposing enhancements and optimizations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in network security architecture, with a focus on gateway solutions.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks, including ISM, PSPF, NIST, and other relevant security standards.
- Expertise in gateway technologies, including next-generation firewalls, web gateways, and secure web access solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of VPNs, SSL/TLS encryption, and threat detection/prevention mechanisms.
- Experience with cloud-based gateway solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CCNP, CISM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
