DevOps Test Engineer

As a DevOps Test Engineer, your key focus will be in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products throughout the continuous integration and delivery pipelines. This role involves designing, implementing, and executing automated test suites, integrating them seamlessly into CI/CD processes, and collaborating closely with development and operations teams to identify and address quality issues early in the software development lifecycle.

You will work in a self-managing cross-functional team, with overall direction from the Project Manager to guide business outcomes and Solutions Architect for technology vision and governance. The role fits into a team which works on a holistic approach to engineering, in such that, during all activities a mindset of documenting as you build, taking a security first and test-driven development mindset are key to enable the highest quality outcomes and best understanding of the system at any time.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Integrated Plan Creation: Develop an integrated plan for the project, including a detailed test plan.
• End-to-End Testing: Conduct comprehensive end-to-end tests to demonstrate the core functionalities of the Automation Tooling and Integrations.
• User Acceptance Testing: Participate in User Acceptance Testing, ensuring the solutions meet user requirements and expectations.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Experience working in Defence projects and familiarity with the System Engineering process
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code, to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and promote a culture of quality throughout the software development process
• Experience in building and maintaining test environments and infrastructure using configuration management tools ensuring consistency and repeatability across testing environments and deployments
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python or Bash to automate testing tasks, manipulate test data, and perform environment setup and teardown as part of automated test execution
• Ability to collaborate effectively with DevOps engineers, and Infrastructure specialists to define testing requirements, develop test strategies, and prioritize testing efforts based on business priorities and risk factors
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues, triage defects, and work proactively to prevent recurrence through process improvements and automation enhancements

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in on-premises virtual infrastructure, container, database and software testing within a DevOps environment

Job Requirements:

• AGSVA Clearance NV2 or above,
• Australian Citizenship is required.
