Overview:
Cleared is seeking an experienced Azure Application Architect to join the IT transformation team within a federal government department. This is a contracting opportunity offering the chance to play a pivotal role in designing and implementing cloud-based application solutions on Microsoft Azure. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions to support the department's mission and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of cloud-based applications, leveraging Microsoft Azure services and best practices to meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Solution Integration: Architect and deliver end-to-end solutions that integrate with existing on-premise systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and interoperability with cloud platforms.
- Cloud Strategy & Governance: Define cloud strategies, frameworks, and governance models to ensure compliance with federal government standards, policies, and security requirements.
- Cloud Migration: Guide and support cloud migration initiatives, assisting in the transition of legacy applications and infrastructure to the Azure environment.
- Technical Leadership: Provide subject matter expertise and technical leadership to development teams, helping them implement robust, scalable, and secure cloud-based solutions.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure that architecture decisions align with organizational goals.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed architectural documentation, ensuring that solutions are well-documented for future maintenance and audits.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest Azure services, trends, and best practices to continuously improve the cloud architecture and solutions within the department.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in designing and implementing cloud-based applications, specifically on Microsoft Azure.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proven experience with Azure platform services (e.g., Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Logic Apps, etc.).
- Expertise in cloud infrastructure design, including networking, security, storage, and compute services within Azure.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, including identity management, encryption, access control, and compliance.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code).
- Experience in cloud migration methodologies and tools.
- Government & Security Compliance: Familiarity with Australian Government security standards and policies, including the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., **Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert**) are highly desirable.
- Clearance: Applicants must be eligible to obtain or hold a minimum baseline security clearance as per government requirements.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience working with federal government departments or in highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Azure Sentinel,*Azure Security Center, or other monitoring and security tools within the Azure ecosystem.
