Domestic Regional Technical Officer - Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

Cleared is currently working with DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division, seeking a NV2 skilled Domestic Regional Technical Officer based in Canberra for a 12-month contract with two potential 12-month extensions.

This Canberra-based role offers a unique opportunity to provide priority ICT support to DFAT and its Partner Client Agencies throughout Australia, facilitated by the Domestic Technical Support Section.

The successful candidate will support the installation and maintenance of DFAT's IT, network, and communications systems, providing both technical expertise and high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities include documentation review, SOP creation, stakeholder engagement, and general technical advisory and installation duties. Occasional travel may be required, both domestically and, on occasion, internationally.

Role Requirements:

• Security Clearance: Must hold an active NV2 clearance (PV is desirable).
• Experience: Strong technical knowledge of complex ICT systems, hardware and software installations, network and server infrastructure, and uninterruptible power supplies.
• Customer Support: Ability to offer technical support with professionalism, addressing end-user compute issues, printer installations, and network troubleshooting.
• Documentation and SOP Development: Competent in creating and updating standard operating procedures and system documentation.
• Flexibility: Willingness to undertake domestic travel as needed, with the possibility of limited international assignments.

Essential Criteria:

• Industry Qualifications: Relevant formal qualifications or extensive industry experience in ICT systems.
• Hardware and Network Proficiency: Experience with desktop installations, printers, UPS systems, and physical network/server infrastructure.
• Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Lateral thinking and the ability to troubleshoot complex, undocumented issues with minimal supervision.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Proven interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across different levels.

Desirable Criteria:

• Networking Knowledge: Understanding of routing, switching, DHCP, subnetting, VLANs, or the ability to acquire.
• Certifications: Open Cabling Registration, Senior First Aid, White Card, and other relevant certifications.
• Government Security Knowledge: Familiarity with DFAT's security processes and requirements.

Engagement Details:

• Location: DFAT's office at 51 Allara Street, Canberra. Remote or interstate candidates will not be considered.
• Period: Initial 12-month contract with two possible 12-month extensions.
