Data Centre Engineer

Cleared Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a global technology leader delivering critical secure communications and network capabilities for the Australian Government and Defence sector.

We are on the lookout for a skilled Data Centre Engineer to support key satellite network services, corporate infrastructure, and secure government operations.

This role is based in North Sydney, working across international data centre environments, with occasional travel to support global operations.

Must be an Australian citizen and eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on data centre support, including racking, cabling, and troubleshooting servers, storage, and network equipment
• Manage day-to-day data centre operations, ensuring consistent uptime, power management, and cooling for critical infrastructure
• Coordinate with engineering teams and project managers on equipment deployments, provisioning, and decommissioning
• Maintain asset inventories, follow global standards for cabling and labelling, and deliver remote hands support
• Manage vendor and colocation relationships, ensuring SLAs for connectivity, power, and environmental conditions are met
• Participate in data centre capacity planning and support agile engineering environments
• Work as part of a global operations team supporting secure network and satellite communication platforms

Skills & Experience Required:

• 4-8 years' hands-on data centre operations and infrastructure support experience
• Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure: power, cooling, network topologies, and operational best practices
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting server and storage hardware
• Working knowledge of network protocols and server operating systems
• Comfortable supporting Agile/DevOps teams and working across global teams
• Strong customer service focus with excellent communication skills
• Able to travel domestically and internationally (up to 40%)

Desirable:

• Familiarity with satellite or telecommunications networks highly regarded
• Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
• Experience managing vendor relationships and colocation data centre providers

Eligibility Requirements:

Due to the nature of this role within the Defence sector, you must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent

Resident. Australian citizenship will be required for future security clearance sponsorship.
